About the blog

This blog began as a class project in 2011 but is now a gathering place for educators, advocates, students and others interested in scholastic journalism to share views about the scholastic press and how the profession can be better equipped to serve students and advisers in an ever-changing media world. As storytelling platforms and skill sets change, core values and principles must remain the same in order to provide audiences with information that’s credible and useful to a functioning society. Teaching students how to be good gatekeepers of the information they relay is ever more important today as the availability of information increases with a speed unseen in previous generations. The ideas expressed on this blog aim toward improving journalistic pedagogy as well as exploring solutions to problems advisers and students face. Feel free to join the conversation.
